Another one checked off!

I've built my bookshelf and nightstand. Now I should say I've been living here for two months, and have had these items for that long, or close to it. I have been putting off putting thing things together because I knew it would frustrate me. I was right.

I started with the bookshelf, and it was more complicate than I thought it would be. I started off wrong. The first pieces I put together backwards. Oops. So when I went to connect two pieces they didn't line up right. So, at this point it was do I force it together and make it work, or take it apart and do it right? Well, I took it apart, put it back together, found another piece wrong, so I took it apart and put it back together. In the end it is together correctly, with no extra pieces! If I ever need another deterrent for buying books, I'll just put together a bookshelf!

The nightstand was easy. Yay ikea!

All in all, I'm glad it's done.

Tomorrow, I clean my room and organize my closet...or at least that is the plan!

When I do I'll post pictures of my handy work!

Making people smile...

So I'm well on my way of the making someone smile everyday for a week.

It started with Mindy's comment to my post on Saturday.

Then yesterday, I was at a diner close to my house and the booths have really high backs and there was a toddler standing up and looking at me. I started playing peek-a-boo with him, and he just thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. He giggled quite possibly the cutest giggle I've ever heard. His parents apologized, and I told them it was not problem at all, that I was probably having more fun than him. Then they asked if I wanted to babysit. :)

Today I was having dinner at Cactus, and very intently reading my book. (Great book November 22, 1963) and the guy at the next table asked me if the book was about the Kennedy assassination, to which I replied, it was. We got to talking about the book. I happened to finish it while still at the restaurant. I then asked if he would be interested in reading the book. He seemed to show a genuine interest in it when we had discussed this. I think he was a little shocked. He smiled and thanked me. It made my very long, just okay day good.

In doing this I find that it makes my day better to brighten other peoples days.

PS: Morgan I know I told you that you could borrow the book. You can't. :)

One Down...100 to go!

So I've created my list. It was difficult. Too many possibilities. I also spent some time on this blog. So the list is down below in the first post, but also to the side. I'll cross off the items as they become completed!

I'm looking forward to a lot of these, others will be a real challenge.

So stay tuned for more items crossed off the list, and the impact that has.

101 Things...

So my dear friend Marilyn recently posted 101 things she was going to do in 1001 days. This inspired me, and what a time to be inspired with new year's resolutions and whatnot looming. Here is the info, and my 101 things.

The Mission:

Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:

Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?

Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

I'll keep track by updating here once a task is complete, and during the process of completing tasks!
